Al Sullivan, SPHR President Inspirus Consulting, Inc. Experience and Clients Al Sullivan is the president and owner of Inspirus Consulting Inc., a firm specializing in “Whole System” Diversity/Inclusion and Cross Cultural consulting services. Al’s professional experience has allowed him the opportunity to contribute in a variety of roles and organizations including Human Resources leader, Manufacturing manager and Military officer. His past work experience afforded opportunities of learning and making a difference at leading global organizations such as GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), NIKE, Dell Computer, Eisai, Inc, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, ICI Fiberite and the US Army. Al is also no stranger to small and medium sized organizations where he received an abundance of hands on experience at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and as a Talent Acquisition consultant at Technical Staff Recruiters. Education/Training/Certifications Al is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with over 20 years total experience. He earned his BA degree from Alabama A&M University and he’s currently enrolled in an MS Organizational Development degree program at American University in Washington, DC. Al is accustomed to applying key tools and principles from Six Sigma process improvement techniques. Al is also trained in a number of high impact Human Resources and Organizational Development tools and techniques such as Behavioral style interviewing, Employment Law and Six Sigma Process Improvement techniques to name a few. Accomplishments Al helped the Information Technology division at GlaxoSmithKline win the “Attraction/Development & Retention” Diversity award after implementing initiatives which significantly increased senior female and minority leaders within the division. Al has designed long term global inclusion initiatives as a strategic approach to change organizational culture. He is a graduate of Ranger School which is one of the U.S. Military’s most prestigious experiential leadership training courses. Some of Al’s specific areas of accomplishment include applying multicultural and inclusive strategies in key areas such as talent acquisition/management, employee engagement, strategic human resources management and organizational development. Al has effectively worked in a variety of organizational settings including corporate headquarters, manufacturing/distribution facilities, and regional offices. He also has experience working with a variety of staff members as well as managers and executives at different functional and organizational levels (i.e. sales/marketing, engineering, customer service, operations, research and development, legal, human resources, finance and information technology). Al has also worked directly with global corporate executives, front line manufacturing operators and everyone in between. Affiliations and Memberships Al’s professional affiliations include membership in the Society of Human Resources Management, Triangle Society of Human Resources Management (Diversity Director), The National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (Vice President) and the Durham Workforce Development Board (Business Services Member). Personal Al is married and has three children. Some of his personal interests include enjoying live jazz, hiking the Appalachians, fishing and participating in triathlons. What makes us different?
